Here is a bit of background on the Magic Wand Foundation and the Ultimate Life Summit. The nonprofit Magic Wand Foundation was created specifically to address the needs of young people in the areas of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, good decision making and life skills. While financial literacy is taught in some schools, (and we do programs in schools to address the subject), we feel our biggest impact will be felt beyond the school walls. That is why we created the Ultimate Life Summit.
As I mentioned, we will be conducting the Summit at Disney World in July. It is a week long event that we believe is going to be phenomenally successful. We understand that these issues are very important and we recognize the challenges to reaching and engaging young people with such subjects while they are in the middle of a school day, a school year or even in Prom season. As such we wanted to do something unique. Our plan is to take young people out of their normal routine and give them something special to remember. By combining important life lessons with a week filled with energy and Disney fun (All four parks, a behinds the scenes tour and Cirque du Soleil), we believe we will have a great deal more success in impacting their lives. In doing so we expect they will remember the event (and the lessons) for years and that it can become a piece of the foundation upon which parents and teachers can help them build strong character and ultimately a successful life.
We have a number of full scholarships available (as well as some partial) available to students from across the country. We would like to invite Florida students to fill out the scholarship applications. Given the event is taking place in Florida we think it's only right that we have Florida students attending. In addition to visiting all of the parks and Cirque du Soleil and the Behind the Scenes Tour, students will be staying at the Coronado Resort Hotel at Disney World, will receive an iPod and of course have all meals provided. The first 1/2 of each day is spent in class learning great lessons from our instructors (bios) who have over 60 years of combined entrepreneurship teaching experience.
We would love to have as many Florida students (15-18 years of age) apply as is possible. As I mentioned, we expect to have 10-15 scholarships available and we'd very much like to have Florida students amongst those who attend. Teachers or students can get more information by visiting the Ultimate Life Summit website at www.UltimateLifeSummit.com. There they will find info about the summit, an FAQ, the agenda and more, and of course most importantly, the scholarship applications. The applications are in Word or pdf formats so they can simply fill them out and e-mail them to us or they can print them out and fax them back. We will likely begin announcing scholarship winners on May 15th, but as we are constantly seeking to raise funds to send more students, we will be accepting applications into June.
